TOP 8 EARTH SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS AND ACTIVITIES YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS

These posts have been very popular and we wanted to share our top experiments in each discipline.

We shared last month our top 10 biology experiment ideas. Today we’ll be sharing information on earth science.

We don’t want to let you miss these 8 earth science experiments!

TOP 8 EARTH-SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS and ACTIVITIES

1. EXPLORE A VOLCANO
Explode a volcano in your own backyard! This is the best earth science experiment you can do. My kids love this activity. They still talk about the various volcanoes they have exploded.

2. Eat Edible Rocks
Who doesn’t like science projects that allow you to eat the results? The edible rock cycle uses chocolate to make it even more delicious! You could also use crayons, but whatever you choose, your kids will be able to see how heat and pressure affect the formation of rocks.

3. CREATE LOUD COLLAGES
The first years of life are a great period to include science and art into your daily activities. Making cloud collages is a fantastic way to combine science and art. Children will learn the differences between clouds by manipulating cotton balls to create different shapes. The children will end the lesson with a poster of clouds that they can use for years.

4. A WINTER RAINSTORM
This simple activity in earth science will be a hit with your students. It’s easy to make it rain in the kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom using water, food coloring, and shaving cream. . . You get it!

5. PLAY WITH HOMEMADESNOW
You can create a little snow indoors, just like an indoor rainstorm. For indoor snow, you only need to have a box with cornstarch.

6. OBSERVE THE FLOW OF OCEAN WAVES
Two types of currents are responsible for the ocean’s constant motion: surface currents created by wind and deeper currents that result from temperature changes. This earth science activity makes use of water and food coloring. It helps students understand the causes and how they are created.

7. STUDY SEASONS
A great activity for younger people is to study the seasons. This seasons book can be used to help your students understand the seasonal changes. A year-long study of trees can be added to help you understand how the seasons affect your garden.

8. KEEP a ROCK COLLECTION
A rock collection is the final piece of earth science education. You can purchase a pre-made one or a smaller, more affordable one. However, we recommend these five steps to create our own rock collection using the rocks around us and the rocks we have collected on vacation.

SPREAD IT OUT

I hope you find this helpful. There are many more earth science activities available, but these eight are the most important.
